Terms and Conditions of your Offer of Place
If you have received an email Offer of Place, then these terms and conditions apply to you.
Your child has been awarded a place at the German Australian Playschool, in Turner.
Your child is being offered a place in either the Monday/Tuesday class or Thursday/Friday class or all four days – as indicated in the email you have received.
Sessions run from 9:15 (or 8:45am)* to 3:30pm (or until 5pm if your child is participating in the Tuesday or Thursday dance program). Please check the GAP Term Fees page to see how much is due and when.
*Children may arrive any time from 9:15am (8:45am, from 23 July 2018 onwards), ready for a 9:30am start.
Your child’s first week of school will be Monday 05 February or Thursday 08 February 2018, unless you have arranged otherwise or your offer states that your child is starting mid-year.
All children must be toilet trained (out of nappies) prior to starting Playschool. Of course, accidents happen, and that’s fine. Children with medical conditions are exempt from this requirement, of course.
To accept your offer, please follow the steps below.
Step 1: RSVP by email
Please reply to your emailed offer of place as soon as possible, indicating whether you would like to accept the place. The offer is for the child and the class days stated in your offer email, and is not transferable. If you wish to decline your offer, please let us know as soon as possible.
Step 2: Organise a Schnupper session
If you have not visited GAP yet to have a look around, either come along to our GAP Schnupper Morning in Term 4 to welcome our prospective and new families, or organise a Schnupper session on another day.
Schnupper sessions start at 9:15am. Children and parents will get to see and participate in the GAP program and ask all the questions they like.
Please RSVP to let us know which date you would like to Schnupper. (If you provide a couple of possible dates, we can find one that suits our director and your family.)
Step 3: Pay your deposit (then your fees)
A $100 non-refundable* deposit to secure your place is due within 20 days of receiving your offer email. (If you have received your offer email with less than 20 days to the start of classes, your full fees, including your deposit are due immediately.)
The deposit will be attributed to your fees for Term 1, so remember to subtract your deposit from your first term fees when you pay them.
The remainder of your fees for Term 1 are due 15 January.
Term fees for subsequent terms are due the last Friday of the previous term.

Step 4: Complete your hours at working bee
As the GAP is a not-for-profit community organisation run by parents, we need help to get the playschool ready each year. Each family is required to put in a minimum of FOUR hours work at one of our working bees (or two people for two hours). Children are welcome, but are your responsibility.
The 2019 working bees will be held:
Friday January 11 from 9am to 5pm
Saturday January 12 from 9am to 5pm
Sunday January 13 from 9am to 5pm
Friday January 25 from 9am to 5pm
Saturday January 26 from 9am to 5pm (Australia Day)
Sunday January 27 from 9am to 4pm
If you will be overseas, you can organise (in advance) to do your hours at another time.
There is a $100 fee payable by 14 February, if you have not completed your hours at a working bee or made alternate arrangements by then. We encourage you to attend the working bees – they are fun, a great way to learn more skills (and pick up some new German words!) and lots can be accomplished!
For mid-year enrolments, please enquire about joining our mid-year working bee held in June/July. It is your responsibility to enquire about this and organise a time to attend.
Step 5: Submit enrolment form and health documents
Returning families: Request and review your enrolment form from last year (2019 class: Make sure you are using the new CSS approved enrolment form, ie the file title includes the letters CWA). Make any changes and re-submit for this year by email.
New families: Download GAP Enrolment Form 2018. Just fill it in on-screen, save and email it to email@example.com . It will be processed and printed for you, ready for signature on the first day.
Enrolment forms should be submitted by email, by 6 January.
Please photocopy your child’s immunisation record (or a letter stating that you are not immunising) and bring it on the first day; or send a scanned copy by email.
Step 6: Identify how you will support your child’s playschool
Please note that in addition to the working bee, each family is also required to contribute a minimum of FOUR hours per term of voluntary work, and participate in at least ONE fund-raising event per year (allow four hours). We also run several cultural events each year and need parent help to organise these.
Please ask for the link to the Support Roles spreadsheet so you can sign up for a role.
Job descriptions are available for all sorts of roles we need help with; and for most roles there is helpful info from the previous parent volunteer.
If you have not signed up online already, on your first day, please be sure you see one of our Committee Members, who will help you confirm the role you will take on for the year.
Step 7: Add yourself to the class mailing list … a week or two before your child starts GAP
Email the firstname.lastname@example.org to make sure your email address is on the Mon Tues GAP Families or Thurs Fri GAP Families class email list, as applicable. Once you’ve received an email through that list you can use the ‘subscribe’ function to add any other email addresses your family wants to add.
